my vision of astrology ~ KNOW THYSELF
Centuries before the birth of Christ, in many different cultures across the planet, seekers and sky-watchers (our world's first astronomers-astrologers, priests-priestesses, shamans, mathematicians, etc) remarked correspondances between celestial happenings and earth events.
Over time they discovered-invented a language that allowed them to decipher and transmit these messages & signs from the sky.
The legends, myths and wisdom of this celestial knowledge have been passed down to us through astrological lore.
Astrology, a symbolic language, describes our relationshiop to the universe, as earth beings.
It helps us perceive the perpetual cycles of birth and death present in all of life, and which mark our passage on this planet as individuals.
The planets, signs and houses are based on universal prinicipals and their cycles, and the astrological chart reveals the basic structures of our psyche.BUT these are not fixed directives ---
we have a certain amount of choice in how we may express and live our charts.
This capacity to "choose" is determined by our level of awareness:
of ourselves, of others, and of our situations, past and present.
And an astrological exploration can enhance this awareness.So I do not see astrology as inevitable forces falling on us from the exterior, but rather as a psycho-cosmological process in which we can participate as attentively as possible.
We start to see the relationship between the sky patterns, our external situations, and our inner states.
We intuit that we are truly works-in-progress ...
and that our growing awareness shapes our capacity to live our lives more freely and creatively.
I also honor that part of us which is beyond the chart, that dimension of soul or higher self that is not bound or conditioned by time or space ...This kind of approach communicates a sense of our process,
a sense of what the cosmos needs from us, and where we need to awaken.
It avoids labelling and preconceived notions, and avoids predicting isolated outer events;
rather, it brings attention to our inner workings and their effects, as well as possible outer manifestations.
Dialogue, not monologue, as well as vivid images, are used to trigger a deeper understanding of the symbols encountered along the way.This approach serves to awaken intuition and opens our awareness to the different layers of meaning & energies which are described in the chart and its cycles,
with the hope of expanding our perception of our place in the world and of the mystery which links us to the cosmic and divine dimensions.
