Meditative/Reflective practice
for Tuning Into the Spirit of
GEMINI - AIR:

Breathe

Sky

Gemini, an air sign, rules the concrete mind and mental processes.
It values "real" life and living, moving experience,
and it's energy is associated with the lungs & breath.
In yoga & meditation, breathing and the mental are intricately linked.

Present planetary alignments challenge us
to become aware of
the light & shadow of AIR, such as:

** the power of thought in creating our reality
** how to deal with dualistic consciousness
** right awareness & communication
** mastering mind & movement; creating connections, etc

The practices given here were chosen with this in mind...

 

BREATHE

Focus in this practice:
Calming the agitation of the mind thru mindful breathing.

"YOGA" => to calm the movement of the mental, or the cessation of thought.
Patanjali: "Practicing passive retention of the breath after exhalation will clarify & calm the mind."

This exercise addresses the common problem of imbalance in the mind:
Either monkey mind
(uncontrolled duality-thoughts-ideas, manic inner dialogue, anxiety, etc),
or depressed, fuzzy, negative states of mind.

Each time you find your MIND in one of these negative states,
practice the following:

Exhale completely. Always start with emptying of the lungs, which empties as well your negative thoughts and mood.
With emptied lungs, contract gently your stomach-abdomen. Don't inspire, and remain still for a 3 seconds or so.
Then fill your lungs to the maximum in an easy even inspiration.
Hold again without strain or stress, with the lungs full, 3 seconds or so.
The main idea is to totally empty and fill the lungs
and to respect the same time interval between the 2.
Concentrate on the movement of your breath.
Breathe in this way for a few minutes.
Your mind and mood will become considerably more clear & calm.

SKY

This meditation helps us enter deeply into the Spirit of liberated AIR energy.

We enter into the essence of clear SKY thru full awareness.

Watching a clear sky, we meditate and contemplate
the purity, totality & vastness of SKY.
You can lie on the ground, just about anyplace peaceful & in nature,
to gaze at the sky and become infused with the light, space, clarity.
Do this for at least 45 minutes. Let your gaze go as far as possible.
Melt into the sky, feel the sky melt into you.
It is important to empty the mind, enter into a non-thinking zone, not to write mental poems on the beauty of the sky for example.
We don't think about the sky, we penetrate and enter into SKY.
Once you feel you've really become ONE with the sky, close your eyes and feel the immensity & lightness inside of you.
One with SKY, we absorb its qualities.
Limitless, luminous, empty, free.
We can, with practice, call upon this awareness at any time, in any place, to enter into sky, even when indoors.
SKY takes us out of our dualistic awareness
and offers a field of unity and calm
with which to fuse our minds and Spirit.
We touch the purest, most elevated qualities of AIR.
