HARVEST MOON =
Full Moon at Fall Equinox

Harvest Moon - at My Chloe Flower

Autumn greetings to everyone !

ushering us into the
Fall Equinox of 2010
is an alluring Full Moon
Libra Sun - Aries Moon
setting the season, calling us to
walk the tightrope with grace & courage

this means Harvest Moon :
when Full Moon coincides with Fall Equinox
also called Wine Moon and Singing Moon
beautiful, no?
named so long ago,
because farmers can continue their harvest
late into the night by the light of the full moon.

Harvest Full Moonrise

Fall Equinox, first day of Fall
falling into a new season
falling in love
falling into fallen leaves & mist
in-between streams of memories & souvenirs ...

at 3:10 am GMT/UT (4:10 Daylight Savings Time)

we enter into Libra
the scales, the balance, justice

the sunset of our yearly cycle.

Equinox is suspension, a turning,
a fleeting moment of perfect balance.
dusk steals in ...
Day forces are equal to the night forces.
Yin - Yang / Moon - Sun / Venus - Mars / Night - Day

a polarity, an opposition is implied
tension, strain, or conflict may manifest.
harmony & integration are the challenge,
not the given.

As autumn advances,
days will decline, nights will lengthen,
asking us to go within, to find inner and outer balance.

high summer exhilaration is behind us
we pause
we linger, we drift, we glance behind
we ponder and weigh.

our twilight season,
of reflexion and contemplation,
when memories flow with the wind.
suspended in time,
we sway gently with the Balance.

make a wish ...
may your fall dreams come true

along with Nature spirits, we are winding down.
fading light, the last of the flowers & summer fruit,
root vegetables grace our gardens,
the bees stocking up for the chill.

Fall is a time for walks in the forest,
gathering chestnuts, mushrooms & wood.
cleaning and pruning, getting ready for the cold,
the smell of bonfires burning away the old.

football games, fresh notebooks, fresher resolutions.
crisp, starry nights,
and that uncanny clarity in the air

What does your autumn look-feel-smell-sound like?

Do you hear the call of the autumn winds,
like a reminder of slower & wiser times, wiser words,
and wise birds readying to fly south ..

eiLight loves autumn, can you tell ?

season of HARVEST

consider the Hawaiian word: MAKAHIKI:

translated as "year", as well as the period of harvest

Makahiki : Harvest, rest
"It's time to enjoy the fruit of your labor.
You've done enough for now. There will be more to do later.
What have you already achieved? Are you enjoying it?"
from the Kanaka Makua oracle

repeating the message of balance & polarity,

The same thread is thus revealed over and over ~
a moment of opposition, integration, balance
Day - Night / Aries - Libra / New - Full

Narthex Archivolt: Libra / Autun Cathedral, France, sculpted by Gislebertus around 1130

the accent here is on
Aries (emerging selfhood, potency, personal sphere)
vs Libra (partnership, refinement, interpersonal sphere)

Balancing inner certitude & impulse with open dialogue & communication,
Wild, vigorous Aries meets civilized, cooperative Libra.

Wedding these polarities ~
the instinctive & spontaneous
meet reflection & objectivity.
Moving from irreconcilable conflict to an integration of opposites,
we enrich our viewpoint
thru the feedback and contrasting vision of others.
This leads to cooperation, wholeness, mutual understanding.

aries insists that clarity & truth reign,
libra suggests dialogue, not argument.
listening inside and out.

and here, Catch !!
a few more balls of cosmic current to juggle ...

This Full Moon aligns with the Saturn opposition Jupiter-Uranus
one more polarity to integrate
to avoid blowing a fuse.

Saturn the stable, the conservative, the realist
vs
Jupiter-Uranus : orbit-jumpers, avant-gardistes, big-visionaries

keep your eyes and heart open
see what comes your way ---
despite the tension & challenge,
expect the unexpected, refreshing discoveries and surprises
this meeting of opposites is extremely fertile

Pluto won't back down, won't accept compromise
Pluto's deep underground sonority announces the inevitable

Full-Moon Equinox:
reflect on
Inner Balance & Potency.
Use the 4 elements as a base ~

FIRE : have enough passion, movement, ardour & heat ?
Are we nourishing courage, faith, creativity ?

EARTH : are resources, finances and inner values fertile & healthy ?
Are we tending to body, Nature, belongings ?

AIR : are we circulating, exchanging, discovering ?
Is our breathing and communication expanded & mindful?

WATER : are we in touch with our Soul Songs, our mysteries?
enough Art, Heart & Flow in our lives?

What calls for your awareness NOW ?
How can you integrate it ?
How can you find the Middle Way ?
How can you renovate without destroying it all ?

Equinox
new season, new commitments

the perfect moment
to fix your intentions clearly
& start anew...

Rural Pearl, cut paper art by Angie Pickman

Every day holds a new story,
waiting to be shared.

and I leave you with Herman Hesse:

"The presses labored, crunched, squeaked, groaned and bleated...
and the clear autumn sun made on everyone witnessing this scene
an impression of joy, zest and plenty.
The crunching of the apples sounded harsh but appetizing.
And this sweet cider filled the air far and wide
with its delicious fragrance.
This fragrance really was the best part of the year,
for it is the very essence of ripeness and harvest.
It is good to suck it into your lungs with winter so near
since it makes you grateful and brings back a host of memories
of the gentle May rains, summer downpours, cool morning dew in autumn,
tender spring sun, blazing hot summer afternoons,
the whites and rose-red blossoms
and the ripe red-brown glow of fruit trees before the harvest -
everything beautiful and joyful that happens in the course of a year."

-BENEATH THE WHEEL, Herman Hesse, 1906
